Optical computing company Optalysys Ltd welcomes Nicole Firth to the team as CAD Engineer. Nicole has a variety of experience working in mechanical engineering and has joined us from Ginetta Cars where she was awarded “Apprentice of the Year”.
Whilst at Ginetta Nicole was involved in developing new components for racing cars, building 3D models for testing and rapid prototyping of new systems. She was also involved as a race day engineer, and was given a free car to drive in the GRDC entry level series due to her success in national and world level karting.
Nicole is continuing to complete her qualifications in Engineering whilst working as CAD Engineer. She is helping Optalysys to develop new parts and processes for prototypes as well as ideas with specialists on future Optalysys commercial products.
Optalysys was founded in 2013. CEO Dr Nick New, a renowned world expert in optical pattern recognition, developed the forerunner to the Optalysys technology whilst carrying out his PhD on optical pattern recognition at Cambridge University. Dr New went on to forge relationships with international academic and commercial institutions before securing funding to take Optalysys forward.
The Optalysys team includes specialists in software development, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), free-space optics, optical engineering and production engineering.
The company has several patents covering its groundbreaking technology.
